Why Choose
different lengths or colors?
If you have dozens of straps, as most boaters do for an expedition, then
different colors can be useful for identifying different lengths or even
different owners.
Different lengths are good for
different applications: Sometimes you need a long strap to secure
a load on your roof rack, other times you need a short strap to attach a
dry bag to your raft frame. You could use a handful of short
straps all strung together for a long strap application, but that's a
hassle. You could use a long strap for a short application, but
then you have to tie up the long tail or risk it getting hung up or
damaged. Again, that's a hassle.
Around the house, if you have different color straps for each vehicle,
you'll know to always keep that strap with that vehicle so when you find
yourself with an oversize load you don't have to scrounge for rope or
use twine; you know you've got your strap selection in the car. |
